Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that you may have questions regarding my services. Below are some of the most commonly asked questions. If you can't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to contact me.

What is a sleep consultant?

A sleep consultant is someone who is trained and certified to provide sleep training and education to families with babies and children with normal sleep disturbances, typically related to "bad" sleep habits. We do not provide medical advice or sleep support to children with medical or developmental conditions that impact sleep. Every potential client should consult with their child's health care provider prior to booking a service with me to ensure it is okay to sleep train.

What is sleep training?

Sleep training is the act of helping a baby or child sleep better. This can refer to improving short naps, bedtime struggles, sleep prop dependencies, night wakings, and much more. Typically, this is done by teaching independent sleep skills to babies and children.

What are your credentials?

Registered Nurse, State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services       4 years as an RN working as a maternity nurse. Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant, Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting Mom of a 7-month-old boy who had issues with sleep and was my inspiration for becoming a sleep consultant

What kind of support do you offer?

Most of my services offer either email support or messaging through the Rested app. Services that utilize the Rested app offer unlimited messaging for 7 days or for 14 days. Services that offer email support give unlimited email communication for 3 days. You can reach out with any questions, clarification, requests for changes, or share the excitement of your baby sleeping better! There are a variety of services for you to choose from that will meet your needs for support and cost.

Once I book a service, what should I expect?

When you select a service, book a time for the phone consultation, fill out the intake form, and pay I will receive notification of the appointment. I'll begin working on your child's sleep plan right away and reviewing the intake form. During our phone consultation I will introduce myself, ask questions to make sure we're on the same page about expectations, specific needs or requests, discuss the sleep training plan, and give you an opportunity to ask any questions. I will send you all the sleeping training documents via email (and through the Rested app if using) either within 2 business days or at the selected date. Once you've received your documents the consult has officially begun, and your days of support will begin as well. You will follow the plan that was provided and ask any questions along the way. If you need any changes made or require accommodations, please don't hesitate to ask.

What is the Rested app and how do I use it?

The Rested app allows families to log all the details of their child's sleep, feedings, and more! You can make notes on anything you log and send messages to me directly. I can also see everything that is logged and allows me to actively assess how the sleep training is going. This helps me determine any changes that might be needed or answer questions that may arise. For example, I notice a note attached to a nap log that says "fussed for 5 minutes" I can comment on the note and ask if your baby fell asleep after that or if you intervened. I can also share all documents through this app as well. When you purchase a package that utilizes the Rested app, I will send you an invite that allows you to use the service for free. It is also free to download.

How soon can we get started?

Once we have our phone consultation, I will send your sleep plan within 2 business days. If you've purchased a service without a phone consult than I will send your information within 2 business days of purchase. If you want to start at a different time, there is an option to decide that in your intake form.

How soon will we see improvements in our baby's sleep?

Typically, your baby or child will be sleeping better in 7 to 14 days. You'll likely see improvements in the first couple nights. I never like to promise results, but with consistency you'll all be getting a better night's sleep before you know it.

Can I get my money back if I don't see results?

Unfortunately, I will not give refunds unless requested prior to our phone consultation. I begin working on your child's sleep plan as soon as I get your intake form, and once we have our phone consultation the amount of time and work I have put in is not refundable. If you are not satisified with the results I will try to troubleshoot the issue though.

Is it safe to sleep train? Will it interfere with our bond?

It is absolutely safe to sleep train, and does not have any short or long term negative impacts. There are actually benefits to sleep training for your baby and you! And, sleep training does not interfere with you and your baby's bond. I will make sure whatever sleep training method that is used works for you and your family. Please refer to my Resources page to see linked articles.

What should I do to prepare for our phone consultation?

To prepare for our phone consultation, jot down any concerns or issues you have been facing with your child's sleep, any specific requests, or other additional information that can help me guide you. We will discuss them during the consultation and come up with a personalized plan to help your child achieve better sleep.
